Das Alter ist ein höflicher Mann:	La aĝo estas ĝentila vir',	OLD age is courteous--no one more:
Einmal übers andre klopft er an,	Multfoje li petas pri enir'.	For time after time he knocks at the door,
aber nun sagt niemand: Herein!	Neniu diras: Eniru vi!	But nobody says, "Walk in, sir, pray!"
Und vor der Türe will er nicht sein.	Ekstere ne volas resti li.	Yet turns he not from the door away,
Da klinkt er auf, tritt ein so schnell,	Subite li enigas sin,	But lifts the latch, and enters with speed.
und nun heißt's, er sei ein grober Gesell.	Krudulon oni nomas lin.	And then they cry "A cool one, indeed!"
