al mia tristema kor':	malgaj' en la koro naskiĝis;	That I am so sorrowful?	sed kial tia tim'?	daß ich so traurig bin;
Antikva legendo min kaptis,	el tempo jam enterigita	A fable of old Times so terrifies,	Legendo el pratempa foro	ein Märchen aus alten Zeiten,
ne cedas el mia memor'.	legendo al mi reviviĝis.	Leaves my heart so thoughtful.	Vagadas tra mia anim'.	das kommt mir nicht aus dem Sinn.

La Rejno fluadas trankvile	Jam malvarmetiĝas l' aero,	The air is cool and it darkens,	Jam fluas la Rejn' en malhelo,	Die Luft ist kühl und es dunkelt,

kaptiĝas per stranga dolor',	ŝipisto ektremis de l' kanto,	It effects with woe sad might;	Turmentas koremoci'.	ergreift es mit wildem Weh;
la rifon li tute ignoras.	kaj blinda por ĉiu danĝero	He does not see the rocky slip,	Ne ĝenas lin rifo-kaskado,	er schaut nicht die Felsenriffe,
atentas nur ŝin kun fervor'.	rigardas li al la kantanto.	He only regards dreaded height.	rigardas nur supren al ŝi!	er schaut nur hinauf in die Höh.

1) En la sube menciita kajero, el kiu mi, Manfred Retzlaff, kopiis tiun ĉi esperantigon, la linio tekstas: "kaj sia oraĵo radias", kun "sia" anstataŭ "ŝia"'. Tio ŝajne estas aŭ pres-eraro aŭ gramatika eraro de la tradukinto.
2) En la origina versio troviĝas tie ĉi la vorto "liedon", kio estas aŭ pres-eraro aŭ neologismo inventita de la tradukinto Paul Christaller.
3) Mi, Manfred Retzlaff, enmetis la duoblan punkton post la vorto "kredas". Ĝi mankas en la origina traduko de Paul Christaller.
