Diese Rose pflück ich hier		Tiun rozon plukas mi
In der fremden Ferne.		En forega tia´,
Liebes Mädchen, dir, ach dir		Ŝatus porti ĝin al vi
Brächt ich sie so gerne!		Karulino mia.

Doch, bis ich zu dir mag ziehn		Sed ne estos mi ĉe vi,
Viele weite Meilen,		Antaŭ ol velkinta
Ist die Rose längst dahin,		Estas rozo, kiun mi
Denn die Rosen eilen.		Estas detranĉinta.

Nie soll weiter sich ins Land		Plu ne iru iu for,
Lieb von Liebe wagen,		Iu hom' amanta,
Als sich blühend in der Hand		Ol en man' portata flor'
Läßt die Rose tragen,		Restas plu floranta;

Oder als die Nachtigall		Aŭ ol flugas najtingal'
Halme bringt zum Neste,		El la nesto ien,
Oder als ihr süßer Schall		Aŭ ol sonas en la val'
Wandert mit dem Weste.		Ĝia kanto ĉien.
