Of ancient seers' foreshowing,	laŭ olda kant-heredo,	Prauloj jam kantadis:
Of Jesse promised fruit;	Jiŝaj la origin';	de Jiŝaj ĝia spec'.
Its fairest bud unfolds to light	ekĝermis ĉarma flor'	Floreton portis ĝi,
Amid the cold, cold winter,	dum frosta vintro-tempo	en akra vintro estis,
And in the dark midnight.	je noktomeza hor'.	Je horo de noktmez'.
