  In what distant deeps or skies
Ardis via okulhelo?       Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
Kia lin flugil' subtenis?       On what wings dare he aspire?
Kia man' la fajron prenis?       What the hand, dare sieze the fire?

Per kiaj ŝultro kaj kompreno.       And what shoulder and what art,
Por vi tordiĝis kortendeno?       Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
Kaj kiam pulsis batoj koraj,       And when thy heart began to beat,
Kiaj pied' kaj mano gloraj?       What dread hand? and what dread feet?

Kia martelo? Ĉeno kia?       What the hammer? What the chain,
Kia forn' por cerbo via?       In what furnace was thy brain?
Riskis kia fort' kolosa       What the anvil? What dread grasp,
Spiti al terur' ambosa?       Dare its deadly terrors clasp!

Kiam steloj sin malarmis       When the stars threw down their spears
Kaj sur la ĉielon larmis,       And water'd heaven with their tears:
Ĉu la verko al li karis?       Did he smile his work to see?
Ĉu vin Ŝafid-farinto faris?       Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

Tigro, tigro, brile brula       Tyger Tyger, burning bright,
En arbaro nokt-obskura,       In the forests of the night;
Forĝus kia man' eterna       What immortal hand or eye,
Vin je simetri' konsterna?       Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?
