La aĝo estas ĝentila vir',	OLD age is courteous--no one more:	Das Alter ist ein höflicher Mann:
Multfoje li petas pri enir'.	For time after time he knocks at the door,	Einmal übers andre klopft er an,
Neniu diras: Eniru vi!	But nobody says, "Walk in, sir, pray!"	aber nun sagt niemand: Herein!
Ekstere ne volas resti li.	Yet turns he not from the door away,	Und vor der Türe will er nicht sein.
Subite li enigas sin,	But lifts the latch, and enters with speed.	Da klinkt er auf, tritt ein so schnell,
Krudulon oni nomas lin.	And then they cry "A cool one, indeed!"	und nun heißt's, er sei ein grober Gesell.
