The demon thirst I could withstand,	................................	Mich plagt der Dämon, Durst genannt
Nay, if I could, would kill it;	................................	doch um ihn zu verscheuchen,

And with good liquor fill it.	................................	und lass mir Rheinwein reichen.

The world then wears a hue so gay,	................................	Die ganze Welt erscheint mir nun
It nearly sets me blinking;	................................	in rosenroter Schminke,
